How I Worked out Wednesday

Hello friends! It must be that time of the week when I inform you about how I worked out this past week. So let's get it started!!

Wednesday: Do I even need to say what I did?? TurboKick!

Thursday: Rest day I believe, otherwise I can't remember!!

Friday: 4 mile run on treadmill!

Saturday: Insanity Cardio Recovery -- 30 minutes of pure muscle stretching and pulsing goodness, remember how sore I was?!

Sunday: 30 minutes on elliptical, 3 reps of 12 of like 6 different arm exercises, and 3 reps of 20 of 2 different ab exercises. Great workout with the hubs!

Monday: What what?! TurboKick...ya'll, really you should try it!

Tuesday: Rest day! Cause you need to rest yo!

Wednesday:  Another great night at TurboKick!! We got a new cardio section and I got my sweat on!

So you know what I learned this week? And it's COMPLETELY obvious, working out consecutively really does increase the amount of energy I have the next day for my next workout, well except for when you are so sore you can't move...BUT...during the normal workout sessions I have found this is true. Last Wednesday I did turbokick after not working out for a couple days and I had no energy what-so-ever. This week I have had so much energy in turbokick and I know it's due to the fact that I worked out a lot more. I have a great amount of energy thanks to that. Sooooo...don't get down on yourself, just persuade yourself to get to the gym and you won't regret it, I promise!

Fillin' in some blanks!

So you know how much I've been mentioning I LOVE summer and it's activities, foods, etc. Well look at this, today's fill in the blanks are about summer! wooo!!

1.   My plans this summer include       4 week class of death...last one and I'm done...forever!! Lots of group work and project, can you say ick?! Then vaca with the hubby.... then I will be forced to grow up. And have a real person job.  And I can no longer say, "When I grow up I wanna be a..."

2.  The best summer I ever had was    uh duh, last summer?! How can a wedding, a honeymoon in Costa Rica, tons of friends weddings, a trip to DC, a trip to Oregon, Washington, and Canada, climbing a mountain, and various other things not make for an awesome summer?

3.  Summer is     being outdoors all the time, preferably with friends. Counting the bug bites on your legs. Wearing sun dresses. Painted toenails and tanlines. LOTS of fruit. Traveling.

4.  My favorite summer food is   fruits....duh!! They are so fresh and tasty and a heck of a lot cheaper!

5.  The best way to quench a summer thirst is with     a SMOOTHIE!! yum yum!! I could drink one every day!

6.  My summer uniform consists of       lots of cotton dresses, flip flops, t's

7.  The best thing about summer is       people are a lot happier in general. They get to take that much needed vacation time. They get that Vitamin D from the sun. They are not suffering from seasonal depression. They are more active. Really summer has a lot to offer!

Sunday is Funday!

Oh yes readers, it is true, Sunday is Funday!!

Michael and I started our Sunday off right with the 11:30 service at Southland, always great. And then drove our little behinds over to the JC to workout. Now since I was in death soreness mode I decided to take it slightly easier and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. AND then I convinced Michael we needed to do a "full body workout" and we both did some arms and some abs! Good times!! We were thoroughly tired and didn't leave the gym until like 2:30ish, man where was our day going?!

We hit up the grocery after and picked up a lot of yummy fruits and veggies and I wanted to try a new kind of smoothie for my lunch. In a lot of the blogs I read girls make "Green Monster Smoothies" basically a smoothie with spinach in it...sounds gross right?!

Well Spinach basically has no flavor at all and ENORMOUS health benefits so I was down to try it and these bloggers were right, no taste at all and it looked like a christmas smoothie (red and green). I even got Michael to have one!!

Here's the smoothie:
It included a ton of yummy strawberries, a frozen banana, a few ice cubes, a splash of OJ, and some vanilla low fat yogurt and then a handful of spinach for good measure

Then a little this and a little that AND then!! FUN TIME!!

BIBLE STUDY!! This week in bible study we headed over to the Larson's for a COOKOUT!! I love anything that represents summer so this was PERFECT!

Everyone hung out, chatted, ate some delicious food including hamburgers, pasta salad, fruit, WATERMELON, chips, baked beans, and other things.

Michael and I brought the huge watermelon AND a special dessert for the entomologist who's home we were in, DIRT PUDDING! (Definitely Michael's idea) but everyone loved it too. And lucky we have some leftover for dessert tonight! Here are some pictures from the evening:
dirt pudding!! YUM!

FOOD!!!

LOVE this picture, we made SMORES of course!

the proof of my perfect smore

Nom Nom nom!

Chowing down while playing cornhole!
Sunday was exhausting but tons of FUN...I don't want summer to ever end....or my "grown up" life to begin!

A WINEy Saturday

Oh my goodness, so I have a lot of catching up to do in order to get you to this point in the weekend. I suppose for now I will just discuss how totally awesome Saturday was. (well except for the fact that I have lost my newish sunglasses in all my busyness :( )

I literally had something going on ALL day and it was GLORIOUS! :)

I started Saturday morning out with a free Insanity workout at 9 am at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio located in town.
luckily I was able to convince Mrs. Nicole to come with me, even though it was kinda early for a Saturday morning! The class we did was called cardio recovery. I had no idea what that meant but I heard it was going to be a free class (Apparently they are free every Saturday morning, so if you're in terested in going with me let me know!). Basically we did some really deep stretching, yoga style-ish and a TON of squat type exercises. It really burned, and this morning I could hardly get out of bed. Michael even laughed at me as I rolled to get out of the car to check the mailbox today!! So I guess it was a good workout!! After the 30 minute class we got to try a free sample of "Shakeology", the chocolate was really good surprisingly!

After class I rushed home to spend some time with my girl Jessica. She was having a hard day so we spent some time together chatting and then watched the new-er "Alice in Wonderland"

Then it was time for the event that I had never done before. Nicole and Drew's neighbors own a winery and they asked me if I wanted to come out to their farm and help them bottle some wine. I was definitely interested and took them up on their offer!! What a great experience! We were bottling a 2006 (which is the year I graduated high school, weird!) wine and it was pretty cool! They make one wine and it is a red mix that has won awards in competitions! I have never been a fan of red wine but I liked this one! Maybe it's because I put some sweat into the creation of it! The couple that owns the winery are super nice and hospitable, and had a cookout for us afterward! Here are some pictures of the process:
The bottles are first rinsed and placed here to dry before being filled up
This is where the filling takes place

The winery's corks

Nicole and I taking a break and sipping on some extra wine!! (my first time liking red wine!!)

Nicole doing awesome work at her filling up job!

Norma and I had the job of drying the bottles after being corked

Collin, the owner, corking the bottles

Working hard drying those bottles!

Then placing them in their case to be stacked! That day they bottled about 124 cases!! (12 bottles in a case!)

Once we ran out of bottles there was still extra wine, so they had these monsters to fill them up, this thing was HUGE!

AND I also met my first St. Bernard!! Isn't she a cutie, 9 years old and sweet as ever!

Oh, and this is so Kentucky, I love the baby horses in the summer! They were right outside the "Black Barn" (aka Black Barn Winery) barn <3

After a good few hours of bottling I headed back into town to meet the in-laws, Michael, and Andrea for dinner at Joe Bologna's, a local italian restaurant located in an old church building.

They are known for their HUGE breadsticks!! (WARNING: will leave you with garlic breath, ick!)

After dinner, despite feeling SUPER full Michael and I decided we needed to introduce his parents to Orange Leaf, so we headed on over! Everyone got a wide array of different flavors and toppings...oh well except for Michael's dad who got Vanilla and put like 10 chocolate chips on his, bahaha. I tried to compare it to going to a fancy restaurant and ordering chicken tenders, it made me sad!
which one is mine?!? the topping heavy one in the back !!

Then immediately after it was MOVIE time, with the Larsons!! We headed to Woodhill to see "Horrible Bosses". The movie made me chuckle, although it was kinda of crude and there was a good amount of dirty language, WARNING.  But the guy who plays Charlie in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" was hilarious AS USUAL!

We ended up chatting with the Larsons until 12:30 in the parking lot when I finally decided I could no longer handle the lingering garlic and HAD to go home and thoroughly brush my teeth and swish my mouthwash!

All in all -- an AMAZING day -- I was definitely worn out -- in a good way!

It Twas a good day...

So it's late, well late for me, 12:30. Normally I'm in bed by 10:45, so what do you think that means!?

I had a fun and very busy day!!! Which of course means that it's too late to upload my pictures from the day and then write a post that denotes everything I've done today. So sadly I will leave you with this short post. And a Spice Girls song...
Happy Saturday!

It's Friday, Friday...

Hey everyone, hope you had a great Friday, didn't the week just fly by? Sadly that means that class will be starting up soon for me, aka Monday, boo that! But today was a good day!

I started it with work...which was fine... at least I was inside protected from the buckets of rain that poured for the first 1/2 of the day.

Then it was Adrielle time!! I totally missed hanging out with her last week cause of my CPA exam so I was glad to get to see her. We actually did a craft today.  We made bracelets with some beads that we made out of magazine pages and then we added beads and letters for fun. It was a fun and messy little craft, I LOVE crafts and could do one every day if it didn't get pricey!

Be jealous of my awesome bracelet! You know what's awesome too? I ran with my bracelet on and it didn't even bother me. Sometimes my rings bother me cause they spin so much, but this was fine, maybe it helped me run cause I had a great run on the treadmill tonight!!

It was my first time running since the race on Monday and I banged out 4 miles in 32:42, that's an 8:10 per mile pace, not bad for eating a handful of pretzels before I left and them turning into rocks in my stomach. You wanna know my secret? Well, today I tried a new Pandora station ... "Club/Dance Radio" ... hahahah..the upbeat tempo helped me to keep up my pace and my breathing actually felt regular for once!! After each dance song I would increase my speed .1. It also helped that I hit the jackpot and Sandstorm came on during my run!

The dance songs seem to be a bit longer too so they make the run seem shorter! I am definitely gonna try that again!!

After the gym I came home and made use of our taco meat from taco night and made nachos..yum-o.

After dinner the hubs and I walked the pups and that basically sums up my Friday evening as I lay here in bed typing and about to fall asleep!! I hope you all had a fun, relaxing, entertaining, thrilling evening!!

How is it Thursday already?!

Hey guys so I have a random mash-up of things for today:

I was originally planning on blogging about going to the dog park with my friends Catherine and Kara BUT silly thunderstorms struck the Lexington area in particular directly over the Kasten home territory and prohibited us from going. Apparently it was not stormy and windy in other parts in Lexington, basically just over our house!! What is my deal with bad weather luck?!?!?!? NO FAIR! My poor puppies had to stay inside another day.

Today at work, since I went to the library yesterday, I was able to read for once instead of wasting hours on the internet. And guess what? I finished one of the books I checked out yesterday and started this morning, yeah it was a good book it was called "The Girl She Used to Be" and it sucked me in.

Reading a novel in one day is not a new thing for me though, once I get into a really good book I can never really put it down. For instance any of the Harry Potter books. And then I end up reading allll day! I'm okay with it though!

Oh and this morning I realized I didn't do a "How I worked out Wednesday"...but then I was okay with it. Why you ask? Cause ever since the race I've been kinda iffy with my exercising. I totally planned on going on an outdoor run tonight but with the rain and my laziness I just ended up cleaning the 3 bathrooms in the house and doing laundry. You know, any normal person's idea of a good night right?!

Now random picture fun time...

Any ever get random hanger nipples in their shirts?! Here's one I discovered on my walk to work the other day. Thought I'd share it with you. I also had to show Michael. They are pretty awkward aren't they?!
Here's a picture of Carson's birthday treat...a freezie pop from the freezer that has been in there for at least 2 years...
Another reason why Target is awesome. Michael and I have been searching high and low for a shirt like this, UK style, and the other day before our camping trip we came across this and couldn't let it go. I wore it today and I love it, so comfy and cute!
My latest lunch obsession?! Fresh Berries (Strawberry, Raspberry, and Blueberry) with Vanilla Low Fat Yogurt and Special K Granola...SO YUMMY and filling!! I think I've had it for lunch like 4 out of 5 days a week!
in the morning, prepping to take to work. Doesn't it just look like summer in a container?!? YUM!

All mixed together with the granola ... so delightful!!
Don't worry that's not all I'm eating for lunch, I'll bring carrots and hummus and maybe a banana or one of these awesome summer lovin sweet thangs!:
So YUMMY and JUICY...love how fresh and ripe they are right now...and CHEAP!

And there ya go, my mish-mosh of random blurbs, from yours truly, the bean counter!
