Workout Wednesday

Currently I am in the motivation stage of getting my workout in for today. I thought ..hm...maybe I will motivate myself by writing out my entire Workout Wednesday post and then I will be able to workout. Of course, I will take a break between posting and the workout to update what I actually did. This super cold weather today is making me feel unmotivated. For goodness sake I still haven't taken my coat off yet and I've been home for almost an hour.

Let's get to the serious stuff. The workouts, yo!
Thursday: ZUMBA! I was in the office for work last week so I was able to make it to my zumba class that I haven't been to in ages! So glad to go. But for some reason I didn't enjoy it as much, I felt like I wasn't feelin' the song choices for that night or something. Plus, my brain felt fried and it was hard to remember the moves to the songs I did know. OH well, not every day is an on day.

Friday: R.I.P.P.E.D.  I always enjoy this class! It's tough and I definitely feel the burn in my muscles during the workout. Plus I love switching between weights and  cardio back and forth!
Saturday: KY Fit Club served up some Rev Abs Cardio. It's a good workout that doesn't seem too terribly hard during the workout but afterwards I was COVERED in sweat, I mean dripping. And my abs were sore the next day too!

Sunday: Rest day! I spent the day catching up on errands, cleaning, etc.
Monday: 5k on the treadmill. This is when I ran into Annie. Mistake of the day: eating a pack of peanut butter crackers on my drive home from work (45 minute drive and I was hungggrryy). So for a good portion of my run a felt icky. But I still managed to do it in 24:34 which isn't half bad for almost throwing up and not running on a treadmill in ages.

Tuesday: There's this blog I read called Carrots and Cake and yesterday the writer, Tina, posted different treadmill workouts to create some variety for indoor running. SO I thought it'd be fun to try it out. Since I had to pick Adrielle up at 7 I had about 30 minutes to run. However I decided that he pace was a little slow for me (this is here workout below, I modified it) so I increased everything by .3 and thought it would be good.

I probably could have increased it by more but the run was definitely enjoyable. I also spent the last 4 minutes increasing my speed from 7.9 -8.9 until 29 minutes and then finished with a minute at 9.0. Great workout. Love the running endorphins. Kinda wish I could have gone to the gym tonight, however puppy duty called!

Wednesday: well...I guess this means that this is the time for me to go change and workout. WAH> I wish I would have gone to the gym, it immediately puts me in workout mode. .... be back in a bit...wish me luck...

Looks like I did it!! I finally got myself upstairs and changed and I worked out! Tonight I did the Turbofire 30 and Turbofire 20 minute core. I'm not sure how I feel about the core class, I like the 2nd half of it way better than the first. I also wish that I had a larger, no carpeted, no ceiling fan room, my workouts would be soooo much better if I didn't have the drag of the carpet and the constant ducking from whacking the fan with my hands! Glad I worked out though! Now TV time wooo!

Notes

Well I kept my word from last night (mostly because I'm a sugar addict) and made my oatmeal butterscotch cookies. Michael called and asked why I made cookies and who for? And I said me and just cause. HAHA lame? Maybe. Delicious. FOR SURE!

Much dough was consumed.
Then there was a sugar headache.
I walked it off for a bit then ate some more!!

-This is what I saw laying out in our room when I went up to bed last night:
Apparently Michael was have a hard time deciding which argyle sweater to wear for his pre-interview dinner in Columbus.

And maybe his wife has a small obsession with argyle on her husband?!? (there are one or two of these missing)

P.S. Michael really liked Columbus. gahhh he has really liked almost every interview, which means the decisions will lie with me on how to rank these places...no pressure at all! (Just 5-7 years of our life!)

-Last night I also put down all my cookies for enough time to lick approximately 60 envelopes.
My tongue hated me afterwards. Why didn't I get a wet sponge? Laziness. I blame it on the cookies.

-Last night I had a horrible night of sleep. First of all, my envelope licking escapades took longer than expected. Then once in bed at midnight I heard a drip drip drip outside of the house  (it's been raining here a lot). That was the only noise being made in the world. After a while of trying to block it out I thought that I should listen to the quiet Christmas Pandora Station, it's so calm. Well yes, but then there's a commercial every so often. I would gasp awake when someone random would start shouting about a jeweler or paying for Pandora for no commercials. FAIL. It was probably about 2 when I fell asleep. 7 AM came quickly.

-Tonight Adrielle, Michael, and I hung out. We watched one of those golden retriever movies. Maybe it was called a Golden Christmas?! It wasn't too terrible. Adrielle enjoyed it, so it's cooooo.

- Michael leaves for a rather large round of interviews tomorrow. Booo. I'll be stuck here in rainy, cold Lexington. But no worries, I have plans for a good portion of the time he's gone. ALSO, i won't feel bad spending a lot of time at the gym!

Well it's time for me to go! Hope you enjoyed my random post!! Night folks!

I don't remember...

So this week is starting out to be a forgetful one.

Yesterday at the grocery I forgot about half the things I wanted to get. And today at the gym I forgot my ID and a sports bra. However, I made it work and still got my run in!

Do you ever have one of those weeks when your brain stops working properly?

I also ran into one of my favorite people at the gym, Annie!! YAY! It was wonderful to have a random workout buddy! And you know what else I witnessed? I witnessed Annie run her first over 5k on the treadmill without stopping! I was so proud and she was bookin' it too! Yay Annie!

You also know what else?! I've been craving Kix cereal for months but I don't want to allow myself to buy it cause at Kroger it is so darn tootin' expensive (also cause Michael always tells me they're disgusting)! But today I hit up Walmart after work and they had some for $2.88!!

So guess what this single-lady for the night had for dinner?? TWO bowls of Kix..nom nom nom!

Now i'm off to maybe bake some butterscotch chip cookies and lay under the hot water of a shower until the hot water runs out because I. AM. FREEZING!

unknown

I'm not really sure what to write about today. It's not like my day stunk or anything, I'm just kind of wordless. It was actually very typical so I don't want to bore you with the details but it went like this:

-- Church
--Lunch at the Kastens
--Cleaning the house
--Football watching
--Grocery Shopping
--Bible Study at our house

So can you believe that it is December 4th already? Can you believe that almost a year ago I pledged to write a blog a day? And now I have well over 340 posts! At times it has been hard. Ya know, no comments, tiredness, boredom. And sometimes I just have nothing to say.

So that makes me wonder what is the future for this blog? I have no idea! I like that I'll be able to have this blog as a memento of mine and Michael's marriage and everything I've been through in 2011.

So what are your thoughts?

- Keep the blog going daily
-Occasional posts
-Only post when I have something to say
-Give it a break, you're tired of hearing about my boring life

Any suggestions for which way the blog should move? Things I should or should not talk about? I want some feedback because it's getting to that time of year where a decision will need to be made!

Let me know! I hope you had a great weekend, dreading another work week...booo!

Joyful day in the Bluegrass!

Today was an extremely joy-filled day in the state of Kentucky!!

Why you ask?

Well, obviously you aren't really into sports (c'mon guys!)

But my Kentucky Wildcats (ranked #1) beat one of our greatest rivals UNC (ranked #5) today at Rupp Arena!! The game was a definite nail biter for sure!

I met up with 4 of my coworkers to watch the game since Michael was interviewing in Hershey PA still (chocolate heaven, or Willy Wonka world, Michael said the street lights up there are shaped like hershey kisses, mMmMm!).

We tried to go to Buffalo Wild Wings, I got there 45 minutes before the game, but to no avail. There was no where to sit. So we tried a place called "Friends and Co" which is a bar and grill. It was fine nothing special, but they did have seats!!

I spent 2 hours of my early afternoon screaming, shrieking, hiding my eyes, covering my mouth, banging my head on the table, and sneering at the 3 UNC fans at the restaurant. It came down to the very last second and I thought we were going to lose so I put my head down. Then I heard cheering, Anthony Davis (known for his unibrow -- bow to the brow!) blocked UNC's last shot for the win and it was over! And we won!
poor UNC, all sad cause they lost to UK!
Immediately a UK fan stood up on the bar and started leading everyone in the restaurant to a Cats cheer
OHHHHHHH C- A - T - S CATS CATS CATS!! OHHHHH C - A - T - S CATS CATS CATS!

What a joyful day for the University of Kentucky. I enjoyed the game so much that the second I got home I passed out on the couch. The game was so intense that at points I thought my heart might beat out of my chest, so a nap was much needed!

Now I await for the hubby to return from his long drive from PA! Happy Saturday you all! I hope you have something to celebrate as well!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   The holiday season is    means it's baby Jesus' birthday and also time with family, a house full of awesome christmas decorations and some extra holiday cheer

2.   Snow makes me   cold. I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I hate being cold. I can take maybe 2-3 snows but then it's just annoying to me, cold, wet feet. Not fun. Only fun if i'm playing in it, AKA skiing, sledding, climbing a mountain, etc.

3.  The best comfort food to eat when it's cold out is    any kind of carb that I can cram down my throat AND i still indulge in ice cream when I'm freezing!

4. Winter is the best time for    for wearing PJ's all the time and getting your house in order so that it will be in order when the weather is lovely!

5.  I can hardly wait for    2 weeks from now (going to Seattle for the weekend) and then my week off work after Christmas!! (but not the busy season of work from Jan-March)

6.  When it comes to holiday gifts I prefer to    give them.  it really is a lot of fun getting people stuff, being excited about it, and watching them open the gift! However, getting gifts is also nice too! It's nice to know that people when the extra mile to think about you!

7.  If I were to rate my excitement about the holiday season on a scale from 1-10, I would say I am at about a    10! Why wouldn't you love the holidays!! Although Scrooge was an accountant and said bah humbug, that does not mean that I am the same as him!!

Hope you have a great first December weekend!

A UK kind of evening

Happy Thursday all!! Isn't this day wonderful? A nice lead into the weekend! Today at work i allowed myself to continue my recent addiction with Mike and Ikes...soooo good!

Then I made this facebook post complaining about Michael getting free tickets to the game.

Michael Kasten has gotten 1 free ticket to the UK vs TN Football game last weekend, and 1 free ticket to 2 different UK basketball games, one of them being tonight's. I have had zero offers. Why is this fair?! Come on friends, i like sports!

On my drive home from work I get a call from Michael informing me someone else couldn't go and I would be allowed to join him and his 2 med school friends for the game tonight!!! OH how fun!

I first had to go to zumba class and then I was off to the game!

UK vs. St. Johns
Pretty satisfied with our free lower level seats! Thank you Austin!

And since I worked out I knew I had to totally ruin my eating at the game, I mean, there was no time for dinner. I had a hot dog, split some weird tasting nachos and cheese with Michael and then hit up the long ice cream line for this beauty:
You like my after workout look!? You should have seen the outfit Michael grabbed for me to wear to the game, unfortunately I don't have the full head to toe look, but it was slightly awkward. Although I am grateful he brought me non-sweaty workout clothes or dressy work clothes and heels (my only other options)
- I had super baggy sweatshirt with no shirt for under
- skinny jeans
-sperrys

OH WELL! Anyway back to the ice cream. I was so excited and then Michael and I were eating it and were very disappointed. Normally the cones are so good but ours barely had any flavor what-so-ever and the cones tasted a little funky. I saw the workers messing with the machine so I'm wondering if they were trying to figure out how to get the flavor back in their soft serve!!

Besides that not awesome food, the game was SPECTACULAR! Since I'm not a student anymore the likelihood of me getting tickets to a game is slim-to-none because they are EXPENSIVE at full price! I loved getting to see our new team up close (in the #1 position currently) and in action. And there was definitely some action, flagrant fouls, and amazing dunks! And I even saw my friends Kellie and Ian on the big screen!! What fun!

Now it's time to head to bed. One more day of work for me and a day full of driving to Hershey, PA for the hubs. Prayers that he has safe travels on his long drive there and back and a great interview!
